Dischord #1

Not much to say about this one. First release from Dischord, Ian's band before minor threat. Teen Idles-Minor Disturbance. This is from the first pressing /1000 with the glossy hard cover. Apparently later pressings came with crappy paper covers according to flex.Got this probably 5 or 6 years ago at this point, luckily my copy came with a damn near perfect insert too...

You Can't Go Home

I just got back from winter break, 3 weeks home with the family and old friends. Good times, but I had to go through all my doctors appointments I've missed while at school. When I went to the dentist he cleaned my teeth and then checked to make sure everything else was all right. It wasn't. He told me my front four teeth had been knocked loose and asked if I had gotten punched in the face. I said no, but then remembered getting kicked in the mouth pretty bad by a stage diver at the Have Heart show at Anchors Up the day before edge day. I can still go home, but I feel like an ass and had to pay the dentist a hundred bucks or so to fix my teeth. Here's #69/95 for the HH warehouse edition.

We're Down...

Probably my favorite hardcore band, this was American Nightmare/Give Up The Ghost's second LP. A month or so ago I finally saw a red copy on ebay, the first in a year or two and decided to keep an eye on it. Suprisingly the set of four was relatively cheap in the end, costing me a little less than the records individually. I do now have doubles of the purple copy, but it shouldn't be too hard to get rid of. Also had an added bonus of helping Wes out, since he was selling this stuff to raise money for heartworm press.
Pressing breakdown: clear /500, pink and purple, both /200, and red /100.

Defeater "Travels"

Defeater has been getting alot of press ever since their first LP, "Travels". All of the reviews I read about it were stellar, some even saying it was the best hardcore album of the year. I finally got around to ordering a copy from Bridge Nine a few months after it came out, and boy it didn't disappoint. Fast forward to this year with Defeater releasing a double 7" called Lost Ground. After listening to a few preview songs on their myspace page I was extremely excited to see them at one of their record release shows and the one at MassArt was only a few blocks away! Just like their LP, this show exceeded my expectations. I had a great time and their live show is as emotional as the record. Unfortunately, there wasn't a record release version of Lost Ground, but I did start searching for the record release of Travels soon after. There were 50 given out at the release show in Worcester, but I had quite a hard time finding someone who wanted to let one go. I finally found this one for $25 from someone who was selling their collection. Not bad in my opinion since the first pressing of the LP is sold out and the second pressing isn't out yet due to budgeting. I highly suggest picking this record up in any format you can, or helping topshelf get the second pressing out on the shelves as soon as possible. They launched a kickstart campaign to get it going and the link is below if anyone feels inclined.

Shook Ones/End of a Year

Shook Ones are an amazing hardcore band from Washington who just released a new full length on Vinnie Fiorello's label Paper+Plastic. This band gets alot of crap about copying Kid Dynamite's sound, but for those who enjoy it, this band DELIVERS. This was one of their first records I was able to get ahold of all the variations; there are 15 tests, 100 white with black splatter, and 210 of the other three colorways. When Sean sent me the test he also included a note, "Congrats man. Guard it with your life!", and since then I've been amassing quite a collection. More to come...

Shorter, Faster, Louder TEST

Here are a few pictures of the s,f,l test I mentioned in the last post. Out of 6 from Jade Tree Records. I also updated pictures of the blue copy I have since the last one I posted was from a camera phone. Enjoy.
