Shorter, Faster, Rarer??
Since I have the Philly thing going for me I figured I'd make the first real post about its punk rock native son, Dan Yemin. He's also probably the favorite son? At least ONE of the favorite sons. Hell, how can he not be with a pedigree of Lifetime, Kid Dynamite, and Paint It Black. Three home runs in most peoples books, mine included.
While I missed Kid Dynamite running Philadelphia by a few years (I was eight when they started), hearing the stories makes me regret not being involved in the scene at the time. If you ever watch their documentary you'll see what I mean, it makes it look like the whole city was behind them.
Their last LP before they broke up was Shorter, Faster, Louder on Jade Tree records. There were three different colors: black out of 1000, marble green out of 500, and clear green also out of 500. They were all easy enough to get. Right now you could probably get all three on ebay for around $100 total.
I thought my S,F,L collection was coming along swimmingly until I saw another person's KD collection on Hows Your Edge with a BLUE variant. After asking him about it he said it was a transitional variant a few shades off of the marbled green. He also told me he asked Jade Tree about it and they had never heard of anything like it. With no other information on it except that its owner had never seen another one of its kind, I didn't suspect to ever find one of my own. Then, earlier this year at the beginning of September I saw one pop up on Ebay with a Test Pressing of the record. Luckily, I ended up winning both and found out the seller was somebody off the Bridge9 boards. I paid for the records and about two weeks later got them in the mail safe and sound. And now, I have one of two known blue copies.*
*If anyone else has one like in the picture let me know so I can change it to out of three!
Welcome
I enjoy reading other peoples record blogs, so I thought I'd make one of my own! Hopefully I can update this a few times a month with cool stuff I get in the mail or gems from the collection. I plan to deal with rarer records primarily, but if I come across a good show or awesome music in NON-record form I may have to slip it in.
